Potluck dessert ideas using a jello poke cake may include ideas like German Chocolate poke cake for an Octoberfest potluck, Strawberry poke cake for a fruit potluck, or Rainbow poke cake for a Christmas potluck. A simple jello poke cake can add the perfect touch to any potluck or home meal.

Octoberfest Potluck Idea

German Chocolate Poke Cake

  • 1 package German Chocolate Cake Mix
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 large frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 3 toffee candy bars crushed or a bag of heath bits

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Bake cake according directions on box 13X9 pan.
  3. Cool 15 minutes.
  4. Poke holes with wooden spoon handle.
  5. Drizzle condensed milk over top of cake. Let stand until milk is absorbed.
  6. Cover and refrigerate about 2 hours.
  7. Spread whipped topping over top of cake and sprinkle crushed candy on top.
Dessert Potluck Featuring Fruit

Strawberry Poke Cake

  • 1 pkg. white cake mix
  • 1 pkg. strawberry jello
  • 1 can Strawberry pie filling
  • Cool Whip

  1. Bake cake in 13x9 pan
  2. Poke holes in top of cake with fork 1/2 inches apart.
  3. Carefully pour jello over cake.
  4. Chill 3-4 hours.
  5. Top with pie filling
  6. Cover with Cool Whip.
  7. Refrigerate
Holiday Dessert Potluck Cakes

Rainbow Poke Cake

  • 1 pkg. white cake mix
  • 1 pkg. Jello cherry flavor
  • 1 pkg. Jello lime flavor gelatin
  • 2 c. boiling water
  • 1 container non dairy topping, thawed, 8 ounce

  1. Prepare cake mix as directed on package
  2. Pour batter into 2 round pans,
  3. Bake as directed; cool 10 minutes.
  4. Remove from pans; cool completely.
  5. Place cake layers, top sides up, back in the 2 clean pans;
  6. poke holes in each layer with a fork
  7. Mix cherry gelatin with 1 cup boiling water
  8. stir until gelatin is dissolved. Spoon over 1 layer.
  9. Repeat with lime gelatin over remaining layer.
  10. Refrigerate 3 to 4 hours.
  11. Dip pan into warm water 10 seconds; invert on plate, gently shaking to loosen.
  12. Spread layer with 1 cup of whipped topping.
  13. Remove remaining layer as above; invert on first layer. Frost with remaining topping.
Simple Pudding Poke Cake

  • 1 pkg. yellow or chocolate cake mix
  • 2 pkgs. (4 serving size) Jello instant pudding & pie filling, any flavor
  • 1 cup. confectioners' sugar
  • 4 cup cold milk

  1. Prepare cake mix baking in 13"x9" pan.
  2. Remove from oven.
  3. Poke holes down through cake with wooden spoon.
  4. Combine pudding mix with sugar in large bowl
  5. Gradually stir in milk.
  6. Beat at low speed of electric mixer for not more than 1 minute.
  7. Before pudding mixture thickens, pour about 1/2 of the thin pudding mixture evenly over warm cake and into holes to make strips.
  8. Allow remaining pudding mixture to thicken slightly
  9. Spoon over top, swirling to frost the cake. Store cake in refrigerator.
