After a long day of preparing a complicated meal, cooks often want a simple dessert recipe that is easy to bake. The Peach Berry Crumble goes great with ice cream.

A home cooked meal has its rewards. Watching family or dinner party guests exclaim happily as they scarf down carefully prepared appetizers, entrees and desserts, keeps many cooks motivated throughout the meal planning stage. But then there are the cooks who don't want to spend the pre- dinner party day working in the kitchen. Easy recipes and easy prep are best for these meal planners. Even if a lot of time is spent preparing the main course, cooks often want to take it easy for dessert. This home made peach and berry dessert recipe fits the bill.

Tip: For this simple home made dessert, you will need some of your favorite fruit. The peach and berry example here, can be substituted with examples found below the recipe.

Gently toss the peach and berry mixture, and spread the combo in a 13 by 9 inch pan (these come standard with a 2" height).

Evenly spread the cake mix on top of the fruit; it's supposed to be a little bumpy.

Drizzle the melted butter on the cake mix.

Sprinkle the sliced almonds on top.

Bake at 350 degrees for approximately half an hour. The Easy Peach Berry Crumble is done when the fruit is tender and the top is a little brown.

Cool 10 minutes, and serve.

This simple fruit dessert is best warm, with ice cream. Dinner party guests never have to know how easy it was to prep and make.

Tip: Some packaged cake mixes come "with pudding inside." Those cake mix packages don't do well with the Easy Peach Berry Crumble recipe, as the mix gets a little gooey. Best to stick with the standard cake mix.

Tip: This dessert is easy to make your own. Try it with pitted cherries, or peeled apples and cinnamon. You can sprinkle confectioner's sugar on top, or substitute the almonds for your own favorite chopped nuts. For example, pecans go well with cherries, and walnuts with apples.

Tip: To make this simple recipe even easier, use nectarines instead of peaches. The skin of nectarines doesn't have to be removed.
