Homemade cookie mix in a jar is an simple and fun gift to make and give. Easy put together, make them in batches and give them to friends, family and as teacher gifts.

Sometimes the best gifts are the ones that we make ourselves. This homemade cookie mix in a jar is a wonderful, inexpensive and easy to make present that is loved by all. Everyone loves to bake and this present takes all the work out of homemade cookies.

It’s easy to make multiple gifts in no time, simply set everything up and put together in assembly-line fashion. This is a fun family project to make together and give as gifts for teachers, relatives, friends.

What is Needed

  • Any wide mouth jars with lid, clear plastic or glass. 1 quart is the best size (32 ounces) Mason and Ball jars work well.
  • Holiday cloth material, cut into 6 inch squares
  • White card stock for tags
  • Decorative ribbon

For each jar and recipe, add ingredients in order listed and pat down with spoon.

Cookie Ingredients for Three Different Recipes:

  • Sugar
  • Brown Sugar
  • Flour
  • Baking Soda
  • Baking Powder
  • Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg
  • Salt
  • Rolled Oats (not the instant kind)
  • Chopped Nuts (pecans, walnuts, almonds)
  • M&M type candies
  • Dried Fruit (Raisins, Cherries)
  • Semisweet Chocolate Chips

Scrumptious Chocolate Chip Cookies in a Jar

  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ¾ cup all purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup nuts
  • ½ cup dried fruit
  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • ¾ cup semisweet chocolate chips

M&M Christmas Cookies in a Jar

  • 1 1/4 cups white sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups candy-coated milk chocolate pieces (red and green are pretty in the jar)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Cinnamon Raisin Cookies in a Jar

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup raisins
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar

Cover jars with holiday material and replace lid tightly to seal.

Print instructions in small Arial font onto the card stock or hand write for an added homemade touch. Cut cards to 3 inches by 4 inches and punch a hole in the end.

Tie the card around the neck of jar with decorative ribbon or string.

“Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Mix together ¾ stick of butter, softened, ½ teaspoon vanilla and 1 egg in large bowl. Add contents of jar and mix tighter until well blended. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes until lightly browned. Makes two dozen delicious cookies!”

To the card can be added a Christmas or Holiday wish or greeting. It’s nice to write the date on the card as well, so that the recipient will remember when they received the cookie mix in case they do not bake them right away.
