Brownie Baking is a creative endeavor requiring thought, planning and skill.

The Dressed up or Dressed Down Dessert

The versatility of brownie recipes makes them a classic dessert, a boon, and a challenge to bakers. They are simple, yet difficult. They are basic, yet they vary. There is only one fact about brownie desserts that is irrefutable. Mixed, baked, and stored properly, brownies are delicious treats for an after-school snack or for a fancy sit-down dinner.

Few concoctions taste as good as a well-baked brownie. Few desserts receive as many sure-fire raves. Brownies can be dressed up or dressed down, but they usually establish hosts with delectable reputations. By using the same ingredients in different amounts and combinations, by adding new ingredients and experimenting with cooking times and implements, bakers experience a recipe as an old favorite and as a creative endeavor. A well-baked brownie is a foolproof dessert.

Brownie Genres

There are several variations of the brownies, but every baker adapts them makes them their own. Popular brownie recipes are divided into genres: Basic, Cocoa, Party, Elegant, Holiday, Brownies for Kids, and Blondies. Bakers can distinguish what kind of brownies to bake for each occasion by using the following categories:

Basic Brownies

Basic brownies follow brownie tradition, using unsweetened chocolate and varying amounts of eggs, flour, sugar, and butter- but they also incorporate modern brownie variations. Some basic brownies are fudgey, some are cakey. Some use baking powder, some don’t. There are microwave brownie recipes, recipes that don’t require any baking at all, frosted recipes with nuts, recipes without wheat gluten. There is no substitute for eggs, although bakers may use honey instead of sugar.

Cocoa Brownies

Cocoa brownies have a chewier texture than brownies made with unsweetened chocolate. The ingredients are less expensive, which is something to consider when making brownies for bake sales, PTA parties, or a horde of hungry teenagers. Since no melting of chocolate is involved, they are also good beginning brownie recipes for young bakers. There are carob (taste similar to chocolate) brownie recipes for people who avoid chocolate.

These desserts are appropriate for adult parties, sit-down dinners, baking contests, or special occasions. Appearance is key to elegant brownies and these recipes deliver. They are simple to make, yet they follow traditional dessert themes, which incorporate brownies, making them original, scrumptious, and innovative. In this category, are Brownie Tarts, Brownie Tortes, and Brownie Baked Alaska among many other variations of classic desserts.

Holiday Brownies

Holiday treats couple well with brownie basics. There are brownie desserts for every holiday occasion, such as Fruitcake Brownies, Peppermint Brownies, and Red-Hot Valentine Brownies.

Brownies for Kids

Whether the brownies are for kids, or kids are making brownies, such recipes are delightful and unusual, incorporating kid’s favorite foods into a delicious brownie treat. Potato-chip Brownies, Cola Brownies, and cupcake or cookie brownies are easy and enjoyable recipes to share with children.

Blondies

Blondies are brownies baked without chocolate. These desserts incorporate some flavors that don’t go as well with chocolate brownies, such as apple, butterscotch, bananas, and macadamia.
